The location of the kitchen and dining table are important. Vaastu has some guidelines on these aspects of a home.
Here are a few principles:
The dining table should not touch a wall. Leave enough space around for free movement of people and circulation of energy.
The dining table should be either square or rectangular in shape without any sharp edges.
The kitchen should not be located in the north-east portion of the house. It is believed that a kitchen located here may lead to tensions and financial losses.
The kitchen should not be located in the south-west portion too. It is believed a kitchen here may lead to clashes in the household and difficulties for the family.
The northern part of the house is not good for the kitchen as it may lead to increase in expenditure.
Have a mirror in the eastern side of the kitchen. It must be neat, clean and free from dust always.
There should be more woodwork in the dining area than in any other place in the house .
Doors, windows, cupboards etc should not make a noise when they are opened.
If space permits, maintain a small kitchen garden in the north, east, north-east, north-west or west of the house.
Avoid repeated heating of food. It is believed to deprive the food of positive energy.
